Economical, Standard, and Sporty: The RAV4 Dual Engine E+ offers three dynamic driving modes, each tailored to deliver varying throttle responses. As a plug-in hybrid, it features an advanced three-power system. In EV mode, the vehicle predominantly operates on pure electricity, ideal for daily commutes as a full-electric vehicle. The AUTO EV/HEV mode, affectionately termed the 'foolproof' mode, autonomously manages power distribution, with the engine stepping in when acceleration is needed to optimize performance. HEV mode intelligently switches to a hybrid operation when battery levels are low, combining engine and motor output while recharging the battery, albeit with increased engine noise and fuel consumption.

 

The chassis suspension features a front McPherson and rear multi-link independent suspension setup. The inclusion of a battery pack brings the car's weight close to 2 tons, enhancing the chassis's robustness and improving ride comfort over uneven surfaces. During our track test, the vehicle exhibited noticeable body roll at high speeds through corners, with a somewhat unresponsive steering feel. Despite its impressive power and responsiveness, it is not ideally suited for aggressive driving. The premium model includes a rear axle motor, enabling the E-Four electronic all-wheel-drive system with adjustable front-to-rear torque distribution ranging from 100:0 to 20:80.

The interior retains the familiar central console layout of the traditional fuel-powered RAV4 but incorporates stylish red stitching accents. The dashboard displays are uniquely tailored to the hybrid system, providing essential information such as battery level and current driving mode.

The central console, identical to the fuel version, features red stitching for a touch of sophistication. The dashboard is customized to display battery status, driving mode, and other key metrics.

Spacious and Comfortable: With the front row adjusted for an editor's height (178 cm, 160 kg), the rear seats offer ample leg and headroom. The seats are designed for comfort. Despite the all-wheel-drive configuration, the flat central platform makes it accommodating for three passengers.

 

Powerful Battery Performance: The vehicle is powered by an 18.1 KWH ternary lithium battery, which can be fully charged in 5 hours using a 16-amp charger or 9.5 hours with an 8-amp charger. The battery pack comes with a 6-year or 200,000-kilometer warranty. The pure electric range is 95 km for the two-wheel-drive version and 87 km for the all-wheel-drive model. The fuel tank remains unchanged at 55 liters, and the official combined fuel consumption is 1.1 liters per 100 kilometers, with a comprehensive driving range exceeding 1100 km.
 

Performance Excellence: The RAV4 Dual Engine E+ features a sophisticated plug-in hybrid system, combining a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine with an electric motor. With a maximum power of 225 kW, it accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds and offers a pure electric range of 80 km. Comparatively, the Honda CR-V PHEV provides an 85 km pure electric range and a 0-100 km/h time of 10.3 seconds.
