Recently, GAC Toyota unveiled the highly anticipated 2024 Toyota
Wildlander,
officially launched with an impressive lineup of 11 models.
In terms of design, the Wildlander boasts a distinctively unique style, setting it apart from its counterpart, the FAW Toyota Rongfang. The most striking difference is its front fascia, which, while retaining the trapezoidal air intake grille, features a larger and more prominent design reminiscent of the Lexus spindle grille. Additionally, the Wildlander's narrowed headlights exude a sleek, 'squinting' coldness. The front fog lights also stand out with a larger, air-intake-inspired design.
Contrasting the bold front, the side and rear profiles of the Wildlander bear a closer resemblance to the RAV4. Notable differences include the taillight's circular design and the addition of a fog light at the lower end of the rear bumper. The exhaust system sports a dual-sided layout, standard across both fuel and hybrid models.
The Wildlander measures 4665 mm in length, 1855 mm in width, and 1680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2690 mm. These dimensions place it comfortably within the mainstream market segment, closely aligning with the Rongfang, albeit with slight variations due to differing designs.
Inside, the Wildlander's interior closely mirrors that of the Rongfeng, featuring a multi-linear center control design that is both visually appealing and functionally clear, with a floating 10.1-inch center screen. The vehicle offers both dark and light-colored interior options.
The 2024 Toyota Wildlander entry model (2.0-liter CVT two-drive lead) retains its price point while introducing new features such as front and rear parking radar, and the TSS Toyota Intelligent Safety System, which includes full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, departure warning, active braking, and more.
The premium version of the 2024 Toyota Wildlander enhances the driving experience with 360-degree panoramic views, electric rear doors, heated and ventilated front seats, 4G network connectivity, mobile app remote control, and a HUD head-up display system.
A standout feature across the Wildlander range is the comprehensive safety configuration, with all models equipped with 7 SRS airbags. Unlike competitors, even the lower-tier models do not compromise on this safety aspect. Additionally, the latest generation of Toyota TSS (Toyota Safety Sense) technology (version 2.0) is included. In crash tests conducted by the China Insurance Automobile Safety Index, Toyota's TNGA products, including the GAC Toyota Levin and Camry, have consistently scored high marks.
The Wildlander offers three powertrain options: a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, a 2.5-liter gas-electric hybrid, and a 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid. The fuel variant features a 2.0-liter engine delivering 126 kW of power and 209 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT transmission. The 2.5-liter hybrid system offers 163 kW of power, includes an EV mode, and an E-Four four-wheel drive system. The high-performance version boasts a 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid system with an engine output of 132 kW, 224 Nm torque, and an electric motor producing 134 kW and 270 Nm torque, coupled with an E-CVT transmission.
