Recently, GAC Toyota introduced the much-anticipated 2024 Toyota Wildlander.
This highly sophisticated SUV, the Wildlander,
has officially launched with an impressive lineup of 11 distinct models.
In terms of design, the Wildlander boasts a unique style, setting it apart from its sibling, the FAW Toyota Rongfang. The most notable distinction lies in the front fascia. While both feature a trapezoidal air intake grille, the Wildlander's grille is significantly larger, exuding a Lexus-like spindle grille aesthetic. The headlights are narrower, delivering a striking 'squinting' cold look. Additionally, the Wildlander's prominent fog lights adopt a larger imitation air intake design, adding to its bold appearance.
Contrasting the 'unconventional' front, the side and rear designs of the Wildlander show fewer differences from the RAV4. The taillight's internal shape is more distinctive, forming a ring, and the lower rear bumper features added fog lights. Both the fuel and hybrid models sport a dual-sided exhaust layout, ensuring a uniform look across variants.
The Veranda's dimensions are quite impressive, measuring 4665 mm in length, 1855 mm in width, and 1680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2690 mm. These measurements place it comfortably within the mainstream market segment, closely aligning with the Rongfang in size, but with subtle differences due to its unique design.
Inside, the Wildlander's interior mirrors that of the Rongfeng, featuring a multi-linear center control design that is both visually appealing and functionally straightforward. The 10.1-inch floating center control screen is a standout feature. The interior color scheme offers versatility with both dark and light-colored options.
The entry-level 2024 Toyota Wildlander (2.0-liter CVT two-drive lead) retains its pricing but now includes enhanced features such as front and rear parking radar, and the comprehensive TSS Toyota Intelligence Safety system. This system encompasses full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist/departure warning, active braking, and more.
The premium model of the 2024 Toyota Wildlander elevates the experience with additional features like 360-degree panoramic imaging, electric rear doors, heated/ventilated front seats, 4G connectivity, mobile app remote control, and HUD head-up display system.
A key highlight is the safety configuration. The entire Wildlander lineup comes standard with 7 SRS airbags, maintaining this high standard even in lower-trim models. Additionally, it is equipped with the latest generation of Toyota's TSS (Toyota Safety System) 2.0, known for its excellence in crash tests, as evidenced by the high scores of GAC Toyota's Leiling (Levin) and Camry in the China Insurance Automobile Safety Index.
The Wildlander offers a trio of powertrains: a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, a 2.5-liter gas-electric hybrid, and a 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid. The fuel version features a 2.0-liter engine with a maximum power of 126 kW and torque of 209 Nm, paired with a CVT transmission. The 2.5-liter dual-engine hybrid system delivers a maximum power of 163 kW and includes an EV pure electric mode and E-Four all-wheel drive. The high-performance variant features a 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid system, boasting an engine power of 132 kW and 224 Nm torque, alongside an electric motor with 134 kW power and 270 Nm torque, all coupled with an E-CVT transmission.
