Recently, GAC Toyota launched the 2024 Toyota
Wildlander
officially, featuring a lineup of 11 distinct models.
In its design, the Wildlander showcases a truly unique aesthetic, setting it apart from its FAW Toyota sibling, the Rongfang. The most striking difference lies in the front fascia design. While both feature a trapezoidal air intake grille, the Wildlander's is notably larger, reminiscent of the Lexus spindle grille. The headlamps are narrower, exuding a 'squinting' coolness. The fog lights also embrace a larger imitation air intake design.
Though the front face is 'unconventional,' the side and rear designs closely resemble the RAV4. The taillights feature a distinct ring shape, and the lower end of the rear bumper integrates a fog light. The exhaust system employs a dual-sided layout, consistent across both fuel and hybrid models.
In terms of dimensions, the Wildlander measures 4665 mm in length, 1855 mm in width, and 1680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2690 mm. These dimensions place it firmly within the mainstream market segment, almost identical to the Rongfang but with subtle shape-induced variations.
Inside, the Wildlander's interior mirrors that of the Rongfeng, featuring a multi-linear center control design. The visual appeal is simple yet functional, with a well-defined partitioning of features. The 10.1-inch floating center control screen stands out, and there are options for both dark and light interior color schemes.
The 2024 Toyota Wildlander Entry model (2.0-liter CVT, two-wheel drive) maintains its pricing but now includes new front and rear parking radar, alongside the TSS Toyota Intelligent Safety System, which encompasses full-speed adaptive cruise, lane-keeping assist, departure warning, active braking, and more.
The 2024 Toyota Wildlander Premium model comes with additional features such as 360-degree panoramic imaging, electric rear doors, heated/ventilated front seats, 4G network capability, mobile app remote control, and an HUD head-up display system.
Safety is paramount in the Wildlander, with the entire lineup equipped with 7 SRS airbags, even in lower configurations. Additionally, it features the latest generation of Toyota's TSS (Toyota Safety System) 2.0 technology. Toyota's TNGA platform has performed exceptionally well in crash tests by the China Insurance Automobile Safety Index, with models like the GAC Toyota Levin and Camry achieving high scores.
The Wildlander offers three powertrain options: a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, a 2.5-liter gas-electric hybrid, and a 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid. The 2.0-liter engine delivers a maximum power of 126 kW and a torque of 209 Nm, paired with a CVT transmission. The 2.5-liter hybrid system produces 163 kW, supports an EV pure electric mode, and features the E-Four four-wheel-drive system. The high-performance version boasts a 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid system, with an engine power of 132 kW and torque of 224 Nm, and an electric motor generating 134 kW and 270 Nm, combined with an E-CVT transmission.
