BYD's new mid-size marvel, the Qin L DM-i, has officially debuted with five distinct models. Positioned above the Qin PLUS DM-i, this sedan showcases BYD's cutting-edge fifth-generation DM (plug-in hybrid) technology. Alongside this, the innovative BYD Ocean Network model, the Seal 06 DM-i, has also been introduced, marking a significant leap in automotive innovation.
The Qin L DM-i's exterior embraces the sophisticated 'Longyan Design Aesthetics' from the Dynasty Net model, featuring a sleeker profile, a newly styled headlight assembly, and striking bright black connecting decorative panels. Its expansive front grille, adorned with dot matrix chrome trim and flanked by ventilation slots, exudes a sporty elegance that surpasses the Qin PLUS. This model offers four exquisite body colors: Ice Green, Jianyao Purple, Runyu White, and Tea Crystal Grey, each adding a unique touch of sophistication.
From the side, the Qin L DM-i displays a dynamic two-stage waistline and a distinctive sloping rear design. The rear is accentuated by a novel through-type light strip and tail lights featuring a 'Chinese knot' motif, complemented by an illuminated 'BYD' logo. Measuring 4830 mm in length, 1900 mm in width, and 1495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2790 mm, this model is notably larger than the Qin PLUS DM-i, offering an extended length, width, and wheelbase, while maintaining the same height.
Inside, the Qin L DM-i offers an elegant dual-tone interior palette: Haoyue Mi and Xuanwu Grey. The minimalist center console features an 8.8-inch full LCD instrument panel with an embedded design. Depending on the model, the floating center console screen is available in three sizes-10.1-inch, 12.8-inch, and 15.6-inch-each integrated with the advanced DiLink intelligent networking system, ensuring a seamless and sophisticated driving experience.
The Qin L DM-i harnesses the prowess of BYD's fifth-generation DM technology, featuring a robust plug-in hybrid system with a 1.5-liter engine and a high-performance drive motor. The engine delivers a maximum power of 74 kW, while the motor offers peak power options of 120 kW and 160 kW, achieving top speeds of 180 km/h. The vehicle is equipped with lithium iron phosphate blade batteries in two capacities-10.08 kWh and 15.874 kWh-providing a pure electric range of 80 km and 120 km under CLTC conditions. Fuel consumption is remarkably efficient, with rates of 2.9 liters and 3.08 liters per 100 km under NEDC conditions. Additionally, the car features a front MacPherson and a newly engineered rear E-type four-link independent suspension for superior handling and comfort.
Strategically positioned between the Qin PLUS DM-i and the Han DM-i on Dynasty Net, the Qin L DM-i fills a unique market niche. With limited mid-size plug-in hybrid options available, it competes effectively against joint venture brand gasoline sedans like the Magotan, Passat, Camry, Accord, and Teana.
