Recently, GAC Toyota unveiled the highly anticipated 2024 Toyota
Wildlander
SUV, officially launching a lineup of 11 dynamic models.
Sporting a distinctive design, the Wildlander stands apart from its FAW Toyota counterpart, the Rongfang. The most striking difference is the Wildlander's front fascia, featuring a larger trapezoidal air intake grille reminiscent of the Lexus spindle grille. The narrow, 'squinting' headlights add a touch of cold elegance, while the oversized fog lights with imitation air intake design enhance its aggressive look.
While the front facade showcases a bold departure, the side and rear profiles of the Wildlander closely mirror the RAV4, with subtle differences. The taillight's internal ring shape and the addition of fog lights at the lower rear bumper elevate its rear aesthetics. Both the fuel and hybrid models feature a dual-sided exhaust layout.
Boasting dimensions of 4665 mm in length, 1855 mm in width, and 1680 mm in height, with a 2690 mm wheelbase, the Wildlander fits comfortably within the mainstream market segment. These dimensions are nearly identical to the Rongfang, though the styling brings subtle distinctions.
Inside, the Wildlander mirrors the interior design of the Rongfang. The multi-linear center console design provides a clean, organized look, complemented by a prominent 10.1-inch floating center control screen. Customers can opt for either a dark or light-colored interior.
The entry-level 2024 Toyota Wildlander (2.0-liter CVT two-drive lead) maintains its pricing but includes advanced features such as front and rear parking radar and the TSS Toyota Intelligence safety system. This comprehensive suite includes full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, departure warning, and active braking.
The premium model enriches the driving experience with 360-degree panoramic images, electric rear doors, heated and ventilated front seats, 4G network connectivity, mobile app remote control, and a HUD head-up display system.
Safety remains a cornerstone, with all Wildlander models standardly equipped with 7 SRS airbags. Even the lower-trim models do not skimp on airbags. The latest Toyota TSS 2.0 safety technology is included, ensuring optimal protection. Toyota's TNGA platform vehicles, such as the GAC Toyota Levin and Camry, have consistently scored high in the China Insurance Automobile Safety Index crash tests.
The Wildlander offers three powertrain options: a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine delivering a maximum power of 126 kW and 209 n·m of torque, paired with a CVT transmission; a 2.5-liter hybrid system with 163 kW of power, featuring an EV mode and E-Four four-wheel-drive; and a high-performance 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid system producing 132 kW engine power, 224 nm of torque, and an electric motor with 134 kW power and 270 nm torque, mated to an E-CVT transmission.
