Recently, GAC Toyota unveiled the 2024 Toyota
Wildlander
to the market with an impressive lineup of 11 unique models.
In terms of design aesthetics, the Wildlander stands out with a distinctive style that sets it apart from the FAW Toyota Rongfang, despite being its sibling. The most striking difference lies in the front fascia, where the Wildlander features a larger trapezoidal grille reminiscent of the Lexus spindle grille. Additionally, the Wildlander's headlights are more slender, exuding a sharp, 'squinting' cold look. Not to be outdone, its fog lights boast a larger, imitation air intake design, enhancing its bold presence.
While the front face of the Wildlander takes a bold, 'unconventional' approach, its side and rear profiles bear a closer resemblance to the RAV4. Notable distinctions include the taillight's ring-shaped internal design and the additional fog light on the lower rear bumper. Both the fuel and hybrid models feature a dual-sided exhaust layout, maintaining a uniform design across variants.
The Wildlander boasts dimensions of 4665 mm in length, 1855 mm in width, and 1680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2690 mm. These measurements align with market segment standards, closely mirroring the size of Rongfang but offering a slightly different visual experience due to its unique shape.
Inside, the Wildlander's interior closely mirrors that of the Rongfeng, featuring a multi-linear center console design that is both visually simple and functionally segmented. The 10.1-inch floating center control screen adds a modern touch. Interior color options include both dark and light schemes, catering to varied aesthetic preferences.
The entry-level 2024 Toyota Wildlander (2.0-liter CVT two-drive lead) retains its price point while introducing new features such as front and rear parking radar and the comprehensive TSS Toyota Intelligence Safety System. This system encompasses full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, active braking, and more.
The premium model of the 2024 Toyota Wildlander ups the ante with luxurious features like 360-degree panoramic imaging, electric rear doors, front seat heating and ventilation, 4G connectivity, mobile app remote control, and a HUD head-up display system.
Safety is a hallmark of the Wildlander, which comes standard with 7 SRS airbags across all configurations, including the base models. It also incorporates the latest generation of Toyota TSS (Toyota Safety System) version 2.0. In crash tests conducted by the China Insurance Automobile Safety Index, Toyota's TNGA platform vehicles, including GAC Toyota's Leiling (Levin) and Camry, have consistently achieved high scores.
The Wildlander offers three powerful and efficient powertrain options: a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, a 2.5-liter gas-electric hybrid, and a 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid. The fuel version features a 2.0-liter engine delivering a maximum power of 126 kW and a maximum torque of 209 Nm, paired with a CVT transmission. The 2.5-liter hybrid system boasts a maximum power of 163 kW, supports EV mode, and includes the E-Four four-wheel drive system. The high-performance plug-in hybrid variant combines a 2.5-liter engine (132 kW power, 224 Nm torque) with an electric motor (134 kW power, 270 Nm torque), and is matched with an E-CVT transmission for seamless power delivery.
